About Me

I have been a runner my whole life

Hi, I’m Brecken. I spent two years living in Africa, an experience that changed the way I see the world and what I believe is possible. After returning home, I laced up my running shoes and never looked back. I started with local 5Ks and quickly fell in love with the challenge of pushing my limits. About a year ago, I stepped into the world of marathons and ultra running, and it has become a core part of who I am. I’m here to share my journey, inspire others to start theirs, and build a community where every runner feels welcome no matter where they are starting from.

Me in 2022

In 2022 I returned from Africa and decided to start running again after six years away from it. I grabbed my headphones, went out for a run, and barely made it a mile before I had to stop and walk home. I felt defeated and set running aside for a while. A few months later I joined a local running group and slowly worked my way back into 5Ks. I still remember how frustrated and incapable I felt at the start, which is why I focus now on helping others push through those same early barriers.

Today

Today I am a marathon and ultra marathon runner who still jumps into local 5Ks when I can. I am driven by the culture of steady improvement that defines the running community. This page is my way of sharing what I have learned along the way. If anything I post helps even one person keep moving forward, it is worth it.
