welcome

Welcome to Keep Running Simple. I started this page to help runners cut through the noise and stop overcomplicating the sport. Whether you are chasing an Olympic dream or gearing up for your first 5K, taking the next step can feel overwhelming. My goal is to make that step easier. I share real experiences from my own journey as a marathon and ultra runner along with practical advice from the running community. What makes this space different is the focus on simplicity, consistency, and progress you can actually apply today. Together we can build confidence, stay motivated, and grow into the runners we want to become.

My recent updates

Below you will find a simple 5k plan that helped me start. as well some of my thoughts from my past couple of races.

Antelope Island Marathon

One of the most unique and enjoyable marathons I’ve run so far. It takes place on a Friday, but if you can take the day off, it’s absolutely worth it. Set in the beautiful Salt Lake Valley, the course offers amazing views and the occasional buffalo that might slow your pace in the best way.

Swan Valley 50k

The Swan Valley 50K was one of the toughest races I’ve ever run and taught me more than I expected. Getting lost, facing steep climbs, and fighting mental fatigue forced me to slow down and focus on simply taking the next step. The race reminded me that nothing is given—progress comes from consistency, discipline, and hard work. Even with preparation, unexpected challenges still show up, and we have to choose to keep going. In the end, this 50K proved that we’re capable of far more than we think when we refuse to quit.

Simple 5k training plan

I’m not an expert, but this link will take you to the training routine I typically use for my 5K and speed workouts. It’s a simple plan that has helped me improve over the years, built from different programs and techniques I’ve followed since I was 16. If you’re looking for a straightforward way to build speed, consistency, and confidence in your 5K training, this is a great place to start.
